7 Questions With Kandi Kisky of Whitetail Freaks

Taylor: How did you get into hunting?
Kandi: I married into it. I came from a family that didn’t hunt but when I met Don it was such a passion for him I knew I had to try it. And if I wanted to spend time with him I needed to try it.
Taylor: Who is the better hunter, you or Don?
Kandi: Don is the better hunter by far. But I will say because I learned everything about hunting from him. I hunt like him. That is why consistently we see or kill big bucks every year.
Taylor: Talk about one heck of a teacher! No wonder y’all are two of the best hunters out there. Tell us about the most memorable hunt that you’ve been on.
Kandi: I would have to say Don’s 213″ buck. It was his first buck over 200″. I have been married to Don for 24 years and if you know him you would know he always wanted a buck over 200″. It was a frosty November 1st and it was my birthday but I was behind the camera and Don did a rattling sequence, he then threw his Nikon binos up and Don says, “oh my gosh, that is the biggest buck I have ever seen!”. Don arrowed his biggest non-typical buck ever that day!
Taylor: If you could hunt anywhere in the world for anything, what would it be?
Kandi: I really want to hunt Utah for giant Mule Deer.
Taylor: What is your most essential accessory for hunting?
Kandi: My Nikon Binoculars are indispensable in the field. You need quality glass so you can see what’s out there.
Taylor: What is your favorite part of the whitetail season to hunt? (early season, pre-rut, rut, post-rut, etc.)
Kandi: I love to hunt Pre-rut and Post-rut. Those hunts typically work out best for us.
Taylor: What are your goals for the 2016 season?
Kandi: My goal for this season is to do the best job I can do. You only have so many days to kill a big buck and you have to make every moment count.
